On this trip to northern Norway, arriving in Tromsø, our research — prices and reviews — showed that the established companies were very expensive, and the reviews also revealed that many other people's experiences with them had not been good. So we started looking for alternatives and found Rent a Volvo Tromsø: a direct relationship with the owners, a simple contract with no small print, everything handled via WhatsApp — and best of all, a superb Volvo. Yes, 200,000 km and 15 years old — but you'd never know it. Everything worked flawlessly, the exterior was immaculate, and the interior looked practically new. A real car. Old school, in the best possible sense. Finally, a special word for Linda, the owner we dealt with throughout. When we returned the car, I jokingly asked if she'd sell it to me. She just laughed: that Volvo, she said, still had many more roads — and many more happy drivers — ahead of it. On the road, you can truly feel how powerful it is, yet the ride remains very smooth. There is plenty of space inside, making it comfortable for everyone. I especially want to highlight the features as the seats are easily adjustable to your needs, it has an adjustable suspension, and the auto-parking function The agency itself was also great. Communication before the rental was excellent — fast replies and clear answers to all my questions. The rental terms were simple and easy to understand, no hidden surprises. They were also very flexible with pick-up and drop-off times, which made things much easier for us with a small child. The car itself was in great technical condition, clean, and drove very well. Big plus: they had a child car seat available, properly fitted and in good condition for my child's age. This is rare to find at car rental companies, so I really appreciated it. As a father traveling with family, I felt everything was taken care of. It's also nice to support a local business like this one instead of the big international chains. Chris Dexter23 June 2026Was looking for a rental. All the leading brands require a substantial deposit on a credit card. Contacted Rent a Volvo spoke with the lovely Linda who was very helpful and assured me that no deposit was required. The vehicle - a Volvo V40 AWS was old but in immaculate condition. Drives well and great fuel economy (£70 spent on diesel for 500 + miles) The car is fitted with technology to automatically pay tolls and ferry charges. Be aware ferries are reasonable cost but Tromso has different zone charges when you cross into them. Unexpected but nothing expensive and not any fault of the hire company. Vovlo Renta A Car were able to provide a break down of these charges on request. Having driven all around Sommaroy, Sanja, Kvaloya, Karlsoy and Lyngen we were able to get off the usual tracks and explore this beautiful area fully. Do not usually leave reviews but the service provided by Linda and her team are second to none. They will be my go to when I return to this part of the world. Tim Hollett16 June 2026Highly recommended! Super personal, friendly, and excellent service. Linda and her team made receiving and returning the car very easy. Excellent communications. The V40 diesel was like "the little engine that could". Fun and reliable. Very well maintained and an absolute fuel sipper at <$80 Canadian in fuel over 5 days including Finland, and the northern and southern parts of Lyngen Fjord. I did not need to refuel intil returning the car. And travel to foreign countries was included which seems to be extra charge for the mainstream rentals. Two pics attached...one of the car, and second of my first night camping...at 12:05 am...just a short uphill walk from free parking in Southern Lyngen. I highly recommended Rent A Volvo. We communicated with Linda throughout, first via email and then via WhatsApp. Linda was always very kind and prompt in responding. She and another person personally delivered the car (a perfect Volvo XC60) to us at the airport exit and explained all its features and gave us tips on how to use it. We had the same appointment for returning the car, which went without a hitch: their company even covered any tolls on the numerous bridges and/or tunnels we encountered during our travels in Norway. Linda's assistance went much further, responding promptly regarding our hotel search due to the cancellation of our flight back to Rome. The price was also in line with other rental companies and its local owned company which I appreciated. We had an issue with the battery in the key fob running out, and despite us being in a remote area, they had arranged for a new battery to be installed at the very next town. Die Buchung und Kommunikation war super einfach und Linda hat sofort auf Fragen reagiert. Das Auto war bei Übergabe am Flughafen vollgetankt, warm und sehr sauber. Einmal hat der Volvo angezeigt, dass die Batterie des Schlüssels langsam leer wird. Linda hat am gleichen Tag einen Kollegen zu unserer Unterkunft geschickt, der uns die Schlüsselbatterie ausgetauscht hat. Während unserer Reise hatten wir keine Probleme mit dem Fahrzeug und haben uns immer sicher gefühlt. Der Volvo war bei allen Straßenverhältnissen ein zuverlässiger Begleiter. They were great at communicating via WhatsApp which was super easy for booking and when we needed to contact them on arrival. They were there ready and waiting to meet us out the door of the airport and exactly the same on return, no queuing and waiting necessary. We left it late to book so we only had one option for a car which was slightly small for our family of four plus luggage but that was our fault for not being organised and I believe they have bigger options to choose from. However, it was great for driving in the snowy conditions and we had no problems at all driving half an hour to Tromso and back each day of our trip. simone tiddia5 January 2026MIGLIORE ESPERIENZA DI NOLEGGIO MAI AVUTA! Noleggio spesso auto per piccoli viaggi, non mi sono mai trovato così bene come con Rent a Volvo Tromsø. La signora Linda è molto disponibile e super gentile. Il noleggio è semplice e il contratto è chiaro e senza clausole nascoste o costi aggiuntivi. Il pagamento avviene al momento del ritiro dell’auto e non c’è bisogno di versare nessuna cauzione. La macchina era perfetta ed è stato un piacere guidarla per Tromso. Al momento del ritiro si sono dimenticati di avvisarmi di una piccola crepa sul vetro posteriore, quando ho riportato la macchina l’ho fatto notare e la signora Linda si è scusata dicendo che aveva dimenticato di dirmelo, spesso quando non si controlla bene la macchina al ritiro poi si può incappare in qualche truffa, non è assolutamente il caso di Rent a Volvo Tromsø! In assoluto il miglior auto noleggio di Tromso, niente a che vedere con grandi aziende come sixt hertz ecc… Se state cercando una auto a Tromso dovete assolutamente recarvi da loro, vi troverete bene ed aiuterete una azienda locale!+3Posted on Google

We had a small problem on the road and the car wouldn’t start, but they replied immediately and came to fix it right away. Öwahrek so nett mir überhaupt ein Auto zu vermieten. Hatte meine Führerschein noch nicht 1 Jahr. Hatte Leder dass Pech dass auf der Rückfahrt zum Flughafen das Auto defekt war. GK g nicht mehr. Eder Schaltung, abs usw. Aber da kann keiner was für. Sowas kann man ja im Vorfeld nicht wissen. Haben wir sogar Angeboten mich abzuholen. Brauchte dann natürlich keine Tankfüllung zahlen und Maut usw.Posted on Google
Pierre Bruyer12 December 2025Un peu sceptique sur le fait de réserver une voiture via WhatsApp chez une petite entreprise locale, j'ai franchi le pas face aux avis inquiétants et aux prix pratiqués des agences de l'aéroport et je n'ai pas regretté. Linda a du faire face à un imprévu sur la voiture que nous aurions du avoir, et à amener une autre xc60 avec une bonne heure de retard. Le geste commercial effectué instinctivement sur la réservation à totalement excusé ce retard. Aucun problème au niveau du retour (la voiture n'avait pas de rayure ou de choc), Linda et son mari sont arrivés à l'heure prévue pour récupérer la voiture et encaisser les frais de péage (voiture équipé d'un autopass) Bref la voiture était très bien entrenue, équipée de pneus cloutés (important sur les routes gelées l'hiver pour éviter de glisser) et disposait d'option confortables (assises larges, sièges et volant chauffants, boite auto, ...) Parfait pour aller à Sommarøy et visiter les îles de Kvaløya et Senja. Je recommande cette agence pour votre voyage norvégien, Linda est très agréable et réactive dans les échanges.+5Posted on Google

Perdimos el ferry que nos llevaba a nuestro destino final y ellos a última hora de la tarde de un sábado, incluso se acercaron a donde estábamos y nos trajeron un Volvo nuevo y con todas las comodidades para conducir en nieve. La recogida del coche fue rápida y sencilla, cuando aterrizamos ya estaban esperándonos en la salida del aeropuerto. Sin necesidad de fianza. El vehículo estaba en perfectas condiciones, limpio y bien mantenido, lo que hizo que nuestra experiencia de conducir por el norte de Noruega fuera aún más agradable. El proceso de devolución también fue muy sencillo en el mismo punto de recogida. Everything with rental went smoothly, simply and there are no hidden fees. Plus the volvo xc60 4x4 was equipped with proper winter tires therefore it was amazing to drive in winter conditions. Tom J8 December 2025I’d strongly recommend renting your car here for three reasons: excellent service, quality vehicles, and the people are very lovely and honest Here’s why : 1) Our rental • Car: Volvo XC60 • Duration: two days in early December 2025 2) Easy booking • First exchange: by email — they replied right away, sent a clear quote, and once we validated it, they confirmed the booking smoothly. • During the rental: communication by phone was also easy. 3) Car pickup • They were punctual for the 8:30 a.m. drop-off. • Car condition: the car was spotless, in great shape, and very comfortable — ideal for icy roads. • Owners’ advice: they explained everything clearly and recommanded the parking app. 4) Driving experience • The XC60 drove beautifully, stable, safe, and pleasant. 5) Drop-off • We finished earlier, and they kindly came to collect the car sooner in front of the hostel. • Later, they even drove back to our hotel to return a forgotten headlamp and gloves ! René Gern6 December 2025Eigentlich ist es mir zu riskant bei kleinen Unternehmen einen Mietwagen zu mieten. Aber Linda und ihr Team hatten zu gute Bewertungen, also haben wir es riskiert. Zum Glück! Denn der Service war viel besser als bei den großen Dienstleistern. Das Auto wurde uns zum Hotel gebracht und am Flughafen abgeholt, das waren unsere Wünsche. Es wurde nicht nach mini Macken gesucht und insgesamt basiert hier alles auf Vertrauen. Natürlich gibt es auch einen Vertrag. Es war übrigens ein etwa 10 Jahren alter XC 60 mit Allrad und neuen Winterreifen. Ein super Auto für den Winter in Tromsø! Gut ausgestattet und gut gewartet. Der Preis war auch sehr gut! Für uns ist alles gut gelaufen und wir werden beim nächsten Mal wieder bei Rent a Volvo Tromsø buchen!Posted on Google

Max Shuk30 November 2025We had a very great experience renting a beautiful Volvo V60. The car was in very good condition and well equipped, a beautiful winter car for our 1600km trip. Linda and the others were very helpful for the whole time and we could contact them 24/7. We arrived Sunday night with a delay of 7h and they waited for us and even managed everything so that we could grab a snack and arrive our hotel! Really a beyond 5-star service! George Paun29 October 2025La mejor opción para alquilar coche fácil, cómodo, seguro, confiables y super amables. Nos trajeron el coche al aeropuerto, nos esperaron a qué saliéramos a las 22:00. Al devolver el coche nos dieron facilidades para horario y lugar de entrega. Alquilamos 4 días un Volvo V60 con ruedas de nieve y clavos para poder viajar por cualquier lugar, carretera y nieve/hielo. Muy recomendable y super atentos.Posted on Google

Kim et Linda ont mis à notre disposition une volvo V40 bien équipée, pneus cloutés, sièges chauffants... qui nous a permis de faire plus de 1700km dans le nord arctique et se sont montrés d'une extrême gentillesse lors de la livraison et la récupération de la voiture à notre hôtel. La communication est simple et efficace. Nous recommandons fortement leurs services ! They were a saving grace since all 4 of us did not have credit cards or license matching to take rental cars from other companies at the airport. Linda and her husband provided the much needed support and simple contract that allowed us the chance to experience travel and see places and sights and also northern lights in the Volvo car.
